This guy does sound like a dumbass, but I’ve got the Olevia 42″ 342i and it supports all resolutions, I’ve got Time Warner cable and HD works. The cool thing about mine is it has no tuner which you don’t need as long as you have a cable box so it’s cheaper than most models of the same quality. Olevia is becoming a name brand and leader for making great quality electronics at a good price, you should definitely check them out if you are looking for a new TV, I love mine!

if you want to watch 1080i content without having it downscaled and deinterlacted to 720p you need a 1080p display. TW, Verizon-FIOS, etc… DO NOT provide anything in 1080p, because there aren’t any TV stations showing 1080p. Even 1080p on HDDVD & Blu-ray aren’t much better than 1080i because movies are shot at 24 frames per second, and this can be shown with no losses using 1080i.

January 18, 2009

1080i capable doesn’t mean much, since many displays (including lower-end Olevia’s) still use 720p as their native display res, meaning that 1080i content is deinterlaced and scaled to 720p. If you want to see 1080i content in it’s full glory you pretty much need a 1080p display (there aren’t really any native 1080i display except for some older rear-projection CRT HDTV’s).

top gun, shut the **** up. olevia blows huge cock, they are the worst god damned tv’s i have ever seen in my entire life. i work at circuit city, and i **** selling those stupid fucking olevia’s to everybody.

January 22, 2009

are you retarded? if you dont have a hd dvd player then you cant watch 1080P, and 1080I is in olieva tv,s that why people buy them, and its currently impossible to even watch TV in 1080P no company currently is able to do that, so 1080p is useless unless you have verzizon FIOS, or Time Warner Fiber obtics, and tat is very expensive

If you are smart save the money and buy a name brand. TV is made with very poor quality parts. The TV breaks down easily, and you will not be able to program your remote with this TV.
